Open Workshop on Display of Political Signage – May 04, 2022 at 1:00pm

There will be an Open Board Workshop on May 04, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. to receive the membership’s input on whether the park should consider rules limiting the display of political signage on a member’s lot. This workshop is for information gathering only. No vote or ruling on this matter will take place at this workshop.

In Memoriam, David Arndorfer

David AndorferTimber Valley’s flag dipped to half-staff for the passing of a very active park member.  David Arndorfer had been on the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, By-laws Committee and Audit Committee. David passed away April 17, 2022 after almost 30 years of fighting cancer. He and his wife Linda Zink moved into Timber Valley June 2013.

He was born in Portland, Oregon, attended Portland State College and received his PhD from Louisiana State University. He served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin.  He worked as a branch manager for environmental consulting companies.  He and Linda were married for 35 years and during that time they volunteered at Oregon State Parks, National Parks, Fish and Wildlife, BLM and Corp of Engineers parks.  They RVed all 49 states and flew to Hawaii. Each year the Board of Directors directs the Election Committee to recruit candidates for the upcoming three (3) openings on the board.  All members are encouraged to apply.
Some of the requirements include attending regular and special meetings, participating in strategic planning, and serving on committees.  We need dedicated and enthusiastic people with leadership skills who are interested in continuing our commitment to “Sharing and Caring”.

A Jane Doe Story

Yesterday I received a call from an 805 area code with the name of Kylie. I did not recognize the caller and ignored it. Later seeing she had left a voicemail and my phone informed me that the voicemail was 51 seconds long. My thought was that this is going to be “blank” or the largest sales pitch to date. As I listened to it, I was mesmerized and I called Kylie back.  Continue reading

In Memoriam, Wayne Roberson

Wayne and Donna moved into Timber Valley in 2011 after being on the waiting list for six years. Wayne passed away on April 6, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Wayne was born on August 21, 1941, in El Paso, Texas when his parents were on the way to California. He grew up in Richmond, California, and joined the Navy after high school. He worked on hospital equipment in several places including Eureka, Tahoe, and Placerville.

Donna and Wayne married in 1966 and were married for 53 years. They were enthusiastic sprint car race fans and traveled to many races often staying in their RVs. They started RVing in 1968 and Donna says,” we started little and went to bigger and bigger” RVs. Until about 5 years ago they “snowbirded” to Arizona. Continue reading

Ratcheds Redux

Now that the weather is getting a bit toasty inland, tourists are visiting en masse. Rental houses and motels are chock full of visitors. Local merchants are opening extra hours to accommodate them. Great to see. Now for the latest news.

First of all, I am glad to report that Ratcheds has a new summer constable. Francis Muldoon is Patrick’s brother, and, former NYPD partner of Gunther Toody. Francis is providing a dummy police car at the city limits to slow down speeders. It’s his and Gunther’s former Car 54. We appreciate him joining the force for the summer season. By the way, PLEASE don’t tell anyone that it’s a dummy car. Continue reading

Marilyn Eykel, in Memoriam

She was known as the “rock painting lady” and many Timber Valley residents were recipients of her beautiful rocks.  Marilyn and her companion Sally Hankins split their time between Talent, Oregon, where she had a home, Timber Valley and Arizona. 

Marilyn passed away March 19, 2022, in Talent, Oregon.  Her son, Eric Eykel from Ft. Meyers, Florida was at her bedside with Sally when Marilyn’s year and a half fight with breast cancer was over. 

Marilyn was born March 26, 1942, in Rochester, New York.  She graduated as a Registered Nurse in Albany, New York. She married Paul and his beautiful little three-year-old daughter and they had a son, Eric while she continued working as a nurse.

After a few years, she decided to change professions and became a Real Estate Broker where she was very successful.  At age 55 she chose to retire, bought a new RV, and advertised for a traveling companion.  Marilyn responded to the ad and the two then traveled with the intent of finding a home on the West Coast.    They became Escapees in 1996 and July 11, 2008, they received their lot at Timber Valley and became residents.  

Marilyn is survived by her son, Eric, two grandchildren, and her companion Sally. Sally plans to continue RVing and living in Timber Valley.
