Oregon Trails Chapter 9
Upcoming Rallies and Events
Chapter 9 holds a monthly SKP get-together breakfast with introductions at 9:00 a.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at Abby’s on Central Ave., (I-5 exit 136) in Sutherlin, Oregon. All Escapees, including travelers, are always welcome. A sign-up sheet for breakfasts is maintained for Timber Valley residents (not required for travelers) and many arrive early to order breakfast.
In addition to summer rallies, since 2017 Chapter 9 has been holding monthly “day trips” to nearby restaurants and other venues of interest, for residents of Timber Valley SKP Park, to which all Escapees are also invited to attend. Upcoming “day trips” are advertised on the Chapter 9 Activities Page.
Membership in Chapter 9 is only $5 per person ($10 per couple) per year. Our membership year runs from June to June of each year.
Chapter 9’s History
Chapter 9 is the oldest Chapter in Oregon and its primary area of influence is from the Pacific Ocean to the Idaho border, north of Canyonville and south of Salem, Oregon, centering on Douglas County.
Founded originally in Arizona in 1987, for the purpose of traveling to Oregon, Chapter 9’s members purchased 90 acres of land and in 1989 built the Escapee Co-Op Park now known as Timber Valley SKP Park of Oregon. Untold hours of sweat equity, as well as a lot of ingenuity and good planning, went into the actual construction of the park, an amazing feat appreciated by all Escapees who live in or visit Timber Valley. Many of our present Chapter 9 members claim Timber Valley as “home” or their summer home, but we are all pleased and proud to have Escapees who live elsewhere as active members of our dynamic Chapter.
