Chapter 9 member Jerry Christensen (# 158) fishing in the Umpqua River that runs along side the Elkton RV Park, site of the first Chapter 9 Rally of the summer season.
Viewed from the road above the Elkton RV Park, one can see the Umpqua River flowing in the background. Most of the RVs visible in the picture are Chapter 9 rigs.

Rallies usually build in free time when members can gather to play games or simply talk and exchange stories of their RV travels.
Shown in the above photo are (from top left) Pam (partially hidden) and David Sawaya talking with Jimmy Smith (# 197), and Jerry and Robi Sypkens (# 176). (From left in foreground) George Boykin (# 87) chatting with Anita and Bud Covington (# 140).
One reason for the popularity of the Elkton RV Park is its tranquil location. Being on the edge of the Umpqua River provides visitors the opportunity to relax, kick back, and breathe in the cool, fresh air from heavily shaded sites.

Scores of longtime friends and fellow Timber Valley Escapees turned out for Jerry and Darleen Hatch’s 60th Anniversary and Farewell Party on 6/20/18. The Hatches leave the end of June for their next adventure in California.

More than 40 Timber Valley RV Park leaseholders and a few visitors turned out on Friday, 5/11, afternoon to hear Debbie Hamilton, Sutherlin’s community outreach director, give an update on a number of activities and developments happening in our area.
Debbie reports that hanging flower baskets will return with the new light poles on Central in early June.

For the second year, the event was organized by Linda Zink and David Arndorfer (# 16). Terry and Mike Hilty (# 71) produced a delicious “Taste of the South” spread including deviled eggs and a variety of four sandwiches. Desserts of finger sweets were baked by Penelope Hepworth (# 204). David Arndorfer and Jimmy Smith (# 197) manned the Mint Julep bar. Rob Hendershot (# 82) provided expert AV help; while Fred Prout (#44), acting as M.C., kept things entertaining and moving.
Our flags were flown at half staff to mark the passing of Jimmie Atwood, lot 29, on September 30, 2017. Jimmie and wife,Connie Sue became members of Timber Valley, just 2 days after the official opening of the park in March, 1996.
