Tia skipped along the path, her little feet creating small puffs of dust. She giggled and did a happy dance as she moved along. Her joy was reflected by the flowers along the way as they bobbed in agreement with her mood. Birds chirped along with her joyous song. The trees swayed to the rhythm and fawns leaped along beside her. It was a glorious day filled with promise. The early summer warmth coated them all with a sense of well being. Tia was content to be here in this park. She rubbed the two little nubs between her shoulders that seemed to be itching a lot lately.
Down the path she met up with Gema who also abided in the park. Here older humans lived in little houses on wheels and often came and went as they traveled about. Every human pitched in to help keep the park looking trim and beautiful. Some of the humans had created a bountiful vegetable garden. Their hard work was supplemented by Tia and Gema. The humans were unaware that the two came to the garden each night to sing to the plants and to encourage them to grow and produce for the people of the park. Tia and Gema sang all through the park, giving strength and energy to all the plants and animals. A few of the humans were open and aware of the two little mystical girls. One woman who was especially attuned, wrote songs she received when her mind was open to such things. Lately she had created a song about Joy that Tia couldn’t help but hum as she went about her day, nurturing the life within the park.
Tia loved her work and communicated easily with the different life forms. She thought it sad that most humans had lost that ability but was hopeful about the music lady and a few of the others. Although Tia and Gema were not visible to them, they sensed their presence and had no trouble accepting that such creatures existed. Some of the dogs in the park could see them. They might want to chase the squirrels, deer and rabbits but made no effort toward Tia and Gema. Instead they exhibited calm reverence toward the two.
Meanwhile Tia and Gema went about their duties, insuring all the plants and animals were cared for. As they sang to the plants, Tia felt a nudge between her shoulders. The two little nubs began to split and tiny wings began to unfurl. Their gossamer surface caught the light and shimmered as they grew. Tia barely breathed as she felt the transformation happening to her.
“You have shown love and caring as you have gone about your duties here in the park. You have earned your wings,” a gentle voice echoed in her mind.
Tia’s eyes misted as she realized that what she had hoped for was now a reality. She looked toward Gema and saw the same sense of wonder on her face as she too transformed to having wings.
The two girls fluttered their new wings and were lifted from the ground. Excited laughter filled the air as the two learned to fly and maneuver around. The lady’s Joy song trilled among the plants and creatures as all those beings joined in to sing and share the “joy” of Tia and Gema. The park took on a new lushness. The human members felt the change though they couldn’t understand what had happened.
Tia and Gema flittered high into the trees singing hello to the hummingbirds who had their own special wings. They raced a dragonfly who chuckled at their antics. Tia and Gema were aware of Mother’s pleasure with their work and were honored to have received their wings. They continued to care for the plants and animals. Over time more humans became aware of their presence and learned to work along with Tia and Gema. The park became a sanctuary for plant animal and human. Music was often heard where no visible means appeared.
