USDA Spongy Moth Survey Underway

Photo Submitted by the Office

USDA personnel may be placing green “milk carton” traps or triangular delta traps in our area as part of an ongoing survey for the invasive spongy moth. These traps are designed to attract only male moths and are safe around people, pets, and wildlife. If you see a trap, please do not disturb it. Spongy moth caterpillars can damage hundreds of tree species, and early detection helps prevent their spread.
