Safety at the Propane Pump Station

Safety At The Liquid Propane Pumps

Volunteers who work at the propane pumps are greatly appreciated. No matter the weather, they help to keep the members’ tanks filled and are more than willing to assist people, when possible.

IMPORTANT

There is a release of gas after each tank is filled, before it can be released from the pump. As a safety measure, the Propane Team stops filling tanks when there is a vehicle running too close to the pump. It is important that vehicles dropping off tanks or picking them up turn off their engines (just like at a gas station).   Thank you.

One Response to Safety at the Propane Pump Station

  1. Terry Hilty says:

Safety at the propane station is of utmost importance. To avoid aggressive demands from those who pump propane and assurance members are 30 ft away from the area, I suggest the park paint an area of “no vehicles in this area” to avoid any future confrontation from pumping crew to members picking up tanks. A recent incident where a member was aggressively approached with demands to shut the vehicle off when they were clearly outside the 30 ft resulted in an embarrassing situation for the member that escalated into an unnecessary reprimand for the member. The member is due an apology from the aggressive propane pumper for his behavior as was required by the member. The pumping crew should also be councelled on addressing members with common courtesy while performing their much appreciated volunteer jobs. There is no excuse for behavior that was exhibited in this incident by the crew member.
