Carl Keck, in Memoriam

In Memoriam, Carl Keck

Carl Keck, former Manager and handyman in Timber Valley Park passed away Sept. 27th after fighting cancer for five years. Carl was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on August 8, 1942. He served in the Navy before moving to Oregon. Carl worked for Roseburg Lumber and operated three assisted-living care homes.

After he retired as Manager of Timber Valley, he was a much-appreciated handyman who many of us fondly remember. Stacy Holmes, a close friend and co-worker for almost 40 years, calls him “a good person who will be very much missed”. The members of Timber Valley send their condolences to Stacy and Carl’s Family. He will be missed.

Carl will be remembered as one of the Best Managers, that we had!!!

I agree that Carl will be one of the best managers our SKP Park has had in the 16 years I have been here. One important reason is that he accepted and understood that we leaseholders (Members) were all his employer and deserved to be treated with respect. He was service oriented, as demonstrated by his management of senior citizen assisted living homes, and later by his willingness to perform contract work for those of us who needed it. He was also generous with the several gals that he hired to assist him with contract work, culminating with Stacey Holmes, who continues to help us as needed.
His bravery in facing cancer that would have caused many guys his age to give up, or be humiliated, was an inspiration. Carl was a conscientious, honest and trustworthy friend and we are all the better for the friendship and service he provided us. Thanks, Stacey and Mrs. Keck, for telling us of his recent passing. No doubt he has gone to a better place, but all of us who knew him are fortunate to have been his friend.

Words can hardly describe Carl’s talent and contribution to this park. I don’t think there was one thing he was asked to fix that he didn’t succeed in fixing cheerfully. He was not only a Navy Vet, he was a Navy Seabees Vet , perhaps one of the bravest and most talented divisions of our military. We treasured him and he will be missed by many current and passed members of Timber Valley. Rest in peace, Carl.

Karl was always ready to help with anything we needed. Always with a smile. If you asked Karl to do something, it was done right. He graced our park for many years. My heart goes out to his family. Come to think of it, all of Timber Valley was his family.
