  1. Jimmy Smith says:

In the most affectionate way, I called him dad and he called me son.
If it weren’t for the asphalt between our sites there would have been a path due to the frequent passage between our places.
Sid was a model of generosity and his laugh still resonates inside my mind.
He was a frequent visitor to many of the local produce and fruit growers and always returned with a bounty for our kitchen.
    He was always gifting us.
Julianne has had concern about our place becoming a used equipment storage facility and Sid always had great offerings to my inventory.
We had two very successful canning operations the past two years where many Tuna gave their lives for our winter stores.
He never had a bad thing to say about anyone.
I would have been proud to have him as my father and I will greatly miss him as my friend.

  2. Ann David says:

I feel so privileged to have been able to work with Sid as my partner when canning Albacore. He would gently remind me when I forgot to tip the jar tops with vinegar.
But, when it came to unloading the canners we had an amazing, unspoken rhythm. That day the four of us (Hank, Jimmy, Sid and I) canned more than 100 1/2-pints of awesome Albacore.
Sid will surely be missed by us.

  3. For a quiet guy, Sid left a deep impression. Almost everyday when he and Pam were in residence, I would glimpse him pass our front door heading back to Jimmy’s shop, usually trying to hide from my sight some “treasure” he wanted to pass along to Jimmy’s Fibber McGee collection. He was a sweet man and I miss him.

  4. Rick De Young says:

Sid and Pam Bowen were my neighbors even before we became leaseholders. We used to visit Timber Valley as renters for at least 3 summers before getting out own lots and we always chose lots on Upper Hilltop. We always shared information that we were gathering about Sutherlin, Douglas County and especially about the Oregon Coast. After getting our lots, we both ended up on Spruce Road and our summer time friendship continued as Sid and Pam returned each year. I will sincerely miss my frequent visits with Sid during the past few years and I send Pam my best wishes and prayers. Rick De Young, Lot 184
