A few memories from the popular, fun Kentucky Derby Party

Forty-eight Timber Valley racing fans turned out at the Clubhouse on May 5th for the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby.

(Above left) Jeanne Bold (AWL #124) sold 50/50 tickets and Rick De Young (#184) collected dinner fees. (At right) Helping at the Derby gaming table were Jackie Deal (#109) and Susie and Jack Varner (# 105).

What is a Kentucky Derby Party without Hats? (Left) Valerie and David Burns (AWL #109) adorned their bonnet and fedora with a dozen live roses. On the right Julianne Crane (# 197) and Vina Taylor (# 131) admire Joan Larson‘s (# 190) chapeau creation and winner of the Best Derby Hat Contest.

For the second year, the event was organized by Linda Zink and David Arndorfer (# 16). Terry and Mike Hilty (# 71) produced a delicious “Taste of the South” spread including deviled eggs and a variety of four sandwiches. Desserts of finger sweets were baked by Penelope Hepworth (# 204). David Arndorfer and Jimmy Smith (# 197) manned the Mint Julep bar. Rob Hendershot (# 82) provided expert AV help; while Fred Prout (#44), acting as M.C., kept things entertaining and moving.
