Welcome Eric & Marya Moosman

Eric and Marya Moosman started visiting the park in 2020. They are on Lot 79. Eric was raised in Preston, Idaho (southeast area). Marya was born in Driggs, Idaho (far east. They met in Utah, and not long after moved back to Idaho and raised their family of 5
children in the house Marya’s grandparents built. The house is as far east in Idaho as you can get. The house is in Idaho, and the mailbox across the road is in Wyoming. The Teton mountains have been their “backyard” playground. Together they enjoy hiking, camping, and kayaking. Eric has his own business providing executive assistant services to business
owners. He participates in Toastmasters, as well as giving presentations on work ethic and work enjoyment. Most of his daily work can be done remotely. He is working hard to not retire. Marya was able to experience being a full-time, stay-at-home wife and mother. Marya is a skilled bird watcher. She is also talented at playing the piano and organ. They currently come to the park for a few months in the winter to escape the cold, white stuff that covers the Rocky Mountains. Some of their other interests and potential
committee services are: Exercise and fitness, hiking, kayaking, landscaping, library, mail,
grievance, planning/construct/maintenance. At age 55, they are part of the pediatric division of our membership.

IN MEMORIAM: FRAN DEAN, #74

Timber Valley lowered the Member flag in honor of Frances Dean #74, who passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. Fran, as she was lovingly known, was a cherished member of the Timber Valley community.

Fran and her beloved husband, Henry, made Timber Valley their home on December 27, 1993. After Henry’s passing on June 21, 2017, Fran continued to be a vibrant part of the park, actively contributing to many committees. She was also a 20+ year volunteer at the Sutherlin Senior Center where she made many friends. Her kindness and warmth were felt by all; she had a special talent for lifting spirits and bringing joy, often through her creative hats she donned for various occasions.

Fran is survived by her son, Hal Dean of Winston, and daughter, Juanita Simmons of Roseburg. Both Hal and Juanita are comforted by the thought that Fran has forever been reunited with Henry.

Fran’s bright spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  According to family, services are pending.

Safety at the Propane Pump Station

Safety At The Liquid Propane Pumps

Volunteers who work at the propane pumps are greatly appreciated. No matter the weather, they help to keep the members’ tanks filled and are more than willing to assist people, when possible.

IMPORTANT

There is a release of gas after each tank is filled, before it can be released from the pump. As a safety measure, the Propane Team stops filling tanks when there is a vehicle running too close to the pump. It is important that vehicles dropping off tanks or picking them up turn off their engines (just like at a gas station).   Thank you.

He later served on the Park’s Audit and Finance Committees. He is survived by his wife, Merrie, children Bradley DuMilieu and Sharla Maher, and grandchild, Chellsey Maher.  Merrie will continue to reside at Timber Valley. PLEASE… NO PLASTIC BAGS

Food Waste Collection:
NO PLASTIC BAGS … PLEASE!!

Thank you to those who are using the Food Waste Collection container located by the can collection cage. It’s a positive thing for the environment and it saves the Park money on garbage collection expenses (we pay by weight). It’s hoped more Members of the Park will start putting food scraps in the collection container.

However, plastic bags with food waste in them were found in the collection container.
Plastic bags do not decompose.
Do Not Throw Plastic Bags in the Food Waste Container
Empty food waste out of your plastic bag and throw the plastic bag in the dumpster.
Other Do Not throw in the food waste collection container are paper bags. cardboard, and paper towels.

The sign says, “FOOD WASTE ONLY”
EXCEPT, NO: Raw meat, poultry, seafood, shellfish, bones, and No fat, oil or grease
(for various health reasons and lack of ability to decompose)

Please follow the directions. The goal is to make this an ongoing successful program.

The list from HealTerra is posted here and will be posted on the Clubhouse bulletin board.
Unfortunately there is no place at this time to place it near the bin. The bin is removed each week by Sutherlin Sanitation and a different bin put in its place.

Thank you for your cooperation,
Sharon Elliott

Update on the New Food Scraps Bin

Everyone, except maybe some renters, has been given information about the Food Scrap Collection bin. It was first located by the dumpster. Park Manager Randy was concerned it was too near the Potable Water supply. Randy relocated the bin to the opposite end of the yellow can and bottle collection container, secured it with a strap that could be easily disconnected, and replaced it with the replacement bin. Sutherlin Sanitary has been informed of the relocation.

Let me enlighten you if unsure what can go in the bin. For example, when you peel potatoes, cucumbers, or onions, the peels can be put in the bin. When you finish a bone-in porkchop or T-bone steak, the bones can be placed in the bin, and turkey and chicken bones can go into the bin. When you empty the refrigerator of food that no longer needs to be stored, it can be placed into the bin. Fruit peels, such as avocados, including the big seed, oranges, etc., can be put into the bin.

If you are emptying the freezer of uncooked meat… it cannot be put into the bin. Oil, even after deep-frying food, cannot be put into the bin, and butter, rancid or not, cannot be added to the bin.

Plastic containers, plastic bags, and take-out paper containers cannot go into the bin.
When your plants wilt, die, and or need trimming, the trimming or dead vegetation can go into the bin.

If you still have questions about the bin or Heal Terra, do not hesitate to contact me at sharonell456@gmail.com

I keep this 5-cup container in or near the sink to collect unwanted food stuffs, then take it to the Food Scrap Bin when I take the trash out. Works well.
