The Timber Valley SKP Park was well represented at the recent Sutherlin Chamber of Commerce 65th First Citizen Banquet.
The event was held at Spire Mountain Cellars which is located west of Oakland (off Cole road) really on top of a mountain. We were housed in a big barn-like structure with a patio that overlooks beautiful acreage supporting cattle, horses and I noticed a big black dog keeping everything in line.
Those honored included Outstanding Educator, Migues Carrillo. Outstanding Business went to Cooper Creek Creative and Adam Sarnowski. (Adam is the person who created all the City christmas displays). Outstanding Service award went to Jim and Beth Houseman for their work on Fords Pond. Inspirational Leader honor was the St. Francis Community Kitchen. Gail Jackson-Francis was chosen as Woman of the Year and our own Rick De Young presented the Man of the Year to JR Guthrie who owns Countryside Financial insurance.
Three additional SKPs attending the gala included Bonnie Wiegle, Linda Essex and Sharon Elliott. Linda found centerpiece items for the Lions table display and along with Tim Saunders of Tim’s Tree House created a winning display keeping with the theme “It’s been a Wild Ride “ after a year of a pandemic.
Hopefully, next year the SKP Park can sponsor a table and show off our wonderfulness!!
Wonderful idea!! Congrats to the community winners!
SKPS rock. It is great to be a major part of the community.
It was great to be seated with 3 other Timber Valley residents for this year’s awards banquet. Our park’s contributions to the community, including those involving the Sutherlin Lions Club and volunteers at the Visitor Center and the Library are well known and appreciated by this group, resulting in several of us receiving awards over the years. Good report, Sharon! Rick De Young
Congratulations. We’re so proud of our SKPers. You provide a real service to Sutherlin. Thanks for representing us. Jackie
