A full day of fun things to do on Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day traditionally starts with watching the annual Macy’s Parade from New York City. It begins at 6 a.m. Timber Valley time.  (If someone wants to volunteer to get up at that time and turn on the big screen TV, please let us know.) Otherwise, plan on gathering in the Clubhouse beginning around 9 a.m. over a cup of coffee.

– Following the parade, there will be three NFL football games
beginning at 9:30 a.m. They will continue all day on the large screen (yep, just like when you had all the family over on Thanksgiving). Bring ‘football’ snacks to share and enjoy a day of watching your favorite pro teams.

The NFL Football game schedule is:  Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions, 9:30 a.m., on FOX. The next game features the Los Angeles Chargers at Dallas Cowboys, beginning at 1:30 p.m., on CBS. The last NFL game on Turkey Day sees the New York Giants at Washington Redskins, beginning at 5:30 p.m., on NBC.

– Thanksgiving Dinner begins at 3 p.m., Clubhouse
The turkey and gravy will be provided for a donation of $3. (Family and special guests are invited for a $3/each donation.)

We are trying something new-ish this Thanksgiving — asking members to fix their favorite Thanksgiving side dish and bring it to share. There will be a signup sheet in the Clubhouse so that we don’t end up with 10 Sweet Potato Casseroles and 7 Pumpkin Pies.

Remember, if you are bringing additional family members or guests, they/or you will ALSO need to bring a side dish for every two guests. Don’t forget your plate settings and holiday beverages. The dinner is being coordinated by Timber Valley Cooking Group. The turkeys and gravy are being prepared by Terry and Mike Hilty (# 71).
